JD: This year it’s been amazing learning with two funny, amazing, cool teachers who teach everything that could be boring but it was fun because you made it. My favorite part was when we played basketball against each other.
Maya: This year has been really fun with Mr. Singer and Mrs.Wanasek as our teachers. They have made learning at school really fun. This year one of my favorite memories were doing track in gym and getting closer with my friends.
Ryan C.: my favorite part of this year has to be phy ed, I say this because I love getting more in shape, and socialising with my friends over a game of tennis. But to be more specific my favorite part of gym was when we had half of the class cut in half, and we played a big game of soccer!
Ryan F: This year was different from all the other years I experienced from the other years in elementary school. The learning was sort of the same, but the learning style made it seem different but fun a the same time. My favorite part was when the year started and how fun it was to see all my friends again and look back and think how far I had come. Elementary school was such a blast and I will miss this school.
Heidi: Knowing me, there are so many things to say about this school and my ‘Trailside experience’, but I can sadly not put most emotions into words. I had such a blast in my final 6th grade year. My teachers, Mr. Singer and Mrs. Wanasek, were amazing and fun. This year, the 6th graders had a more responsible role in having jobs, and we all benefitted one way or another from that. I feel that this year, people connected and grew friendships stronger than ever in this final, fun year at Trailside. Everyone has a crazy side, (you know who you are, including myself), and we all had a blast having fun and fooling around to no end, feeling like we ruled the school, knowing every turn. My personal favorite experience would be those days where we would play games in gym class, teaming up with friends, being the kind-of-crazy kids we are. In Fox River, I feel that teaming up with other kids just as crazy as us will end in certain disaster, but who knows? They may be our best years yet. -Heidi F
Lily: I am going to miss having a small class and seeing my friends every day. I’ll also miss my funny, laid back teachers. Although I will miss this school, I’m excited to meet new friends and meet up with old ones at Fox River. All the people here at Trailside have made a huge impact on my life. Over all I will really miss this school.
Christian: So, honestly this school has been the best thing that has ever appeared in my life, well, so far. I am going to write a pretty big paragraph, so if your kid is below me you better scroll down quick, ok. So, so many memories have been brought to me over the years of being a person who attends this school. I met my life long friends from kindergarten, all the way to where I am now. I loved writing all these essays over the years, taking notes, having nap times (literally only one year of that like what’s up with that?) Life has been pretty great at trailside, playing outside almost everyday, and playing board games when it would rain. I will miss this school and I will remember it for the rest of my life. My sanity will be lost as soon as I go to the middle school, seeing it myself, FOR HALF A DAY, it was madness and it was just horrific, I do not think I could tolerate an environment like it. But the lunch was good there though, like really good, like the best school lunch I have ever ate in my whole life. There were some really good memories over the years, but my favorites ones are: Beating Mr. Singer in Nitro Type more times, and having Fun Fridays where you could bring in all of your toys and play around. But, I will always remember my first “Book Talk” where I just impressed Ms. Hayek, and the whole class, I am super excited for Middle School, and I am ready for what the future holds for school. Thanks for everybody at Trailside and I hope you have a good life, THANKS FOR ALL OF THE KNOWLEDGE! - C.J
Carson: One thing I will miss about trailside is the staff. They are always nice to me and over the years I have gotten to know them better. I will miss seeing an old teachers smile. I will miss having my friends in every class. It will be nice to make new friends but not seeing my friends in every class and seeing my favorite teaches will make me sad. It has been a great year and I am excited for the next one.
Cameron: I will miss Mr.Singer i want to be like him when i grow up he deserves a raise and should get paid more because he's better than other teachers. HE NEEDS TO BE PAID MORE BECAUSE HE IS AWESOME.
Delaney: One thing that I will miss is the teachers and the cool things we get to do here at trailside. I am excited to make new friend and have a fun time.
Jasmine: I will miss all the teachers that I have had here. I will miss the fun I have had here also.
Sonya: One thing that I will miss having long recess. I will also miss being close to teachers because you only have a few of them.
Soren: I will miss a lot of the teachers that I had fun with the teacher who just made me want to come to school each day. Also i will miss the time I wake up each day that was pretty good. Don’t forget the best teachers of all Mr. Singer/ Mr. Beiser.
Erica: One thing i will miss from trailside is when almost the whole class gets along with each other and work as a team. Another thing that i will miss is all the fantastic teachers.
Gabriella: Something I will miss is having rock out sessions during study with Sonya. I will always miss the way we had classes with all my best friends but I am excited to meet new people. I will also miss the awesome teachers!
Jorell: I’m going to miss having an hour in the morning to do anything. I’m going to like getting accustomed to a new building.
Nick: i will miss all the teachers that have had over the years. I will also miss all the activities that we did.
Sari: I will miss Mrs. Suszka and having the class that I have now. Though I’m going to miss somethings, I’m excited for new classes and new people.
Lucas: I am going to miss the carnival. I am going to miss all of the teachers I had and that helped me.
Cierra: I’m ‘going to miss all of my friends in all different grades. I’m so happy to see all of my friends from other schools at Fox River though! I’m also excited to make new friends at Fox River!!
Aubree: I am going to miss all my friends in different grades. I'm going to miss how the sixth grade got along so well, i'm going to miss the teachers.
Teacher's Corner (By Mr. Singer): This is our last newsletter of the year and I wanted to start out by giving a big thank you to all of our families this year. We have had such great support from all of you, and I appreciate it very much. When both the families and the teachers work together we can achieve more with the growth of the students. These students have grown a lot this year, and are now prepared for the next stage of their life. I wish all of you good luck in the following stage at middle school.
On the last day, June 6th we will be having our final auction. To make sure the event is a great final memory of Trailside we are hoping we can get some help from you. Here is a copy of the letter that went home last week about donations for the auction:
Attention 6th grade families,
It’s auction time, and we are looking for donations for our biannual classroom auction. Students have been earning money for being positive and taking responsibility for their learning.
If you are interested in helping make the event a success, we are in need of your help. We have received a decent amount of items from donors thus far, but we are still in need of a few items for the upcoming auction.
If you have any of the following items that would be of interest to sixth graders we would be glad to take them:
- Rummage sale items
- Used books
- Baked goods
- Business donations
- Gift cards
- Soda/Candy
- Etc.
Please send your donations with your child to his/her homeroom teacher by Wednesday, June 5th (unless you are sending baked goods, those can be send on the morning of the auction). Our auction will be held on the morning of June 6th.
On our final day of the school year we do a special walk for the 6th graders. They have the opportunity to walk out early and receive a big goodbye from the rest of the school and then walk out before everyone else. We hope to have as many families there for the final walk as possible. Students will be leaving the school at 11:15 instead of 11:30, so if you are interested to send off your child please arrive around 11:10. We will have you be the last ones to line up in the entrance hallway. The more family we can have to send them off, the more memorable it will be for the kids. We hope to see you there!
Dates to remember:
June 4 Carnival Day!!!!
June 5 Biography Bash
June 6 Auction Day and last day of school, early release
FINAL BONUS: Each week we will put a challenge on here for any parent or student to try. All you have to do is give a response by Monday in the assignment notebook for us to see. If the answer is correct the student will receive $50 towards their checking account. Good Luck!
Share what you are most excited for as you move on to Fox River!
