(Lucy) We have had to mix different substances and put water in them to see their different reactions. We had to keep a journal on all of the days. After everything we waited for them to dry and observed them then also.

Teacher's Corner (By Mr. Singer and Mrs. Topp): We all enjoyed the snow day last Friday, and it’s hard to believe that the Trimester ends in just 6 school days! Just a reminder that we will not have scheduled conferences on February 23rd. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us for a pre-arranged conference.
Please make sure you are taking some time to read these newsletter to hear what is coming up so you are prepared. Also, take a little time each week to be checking Skyward too so you know if your child is up-to-date on his/her work or if he/she has missing work. Make sure to check your child’s grades occasionally, and also please continue checking your child’s assignment notebook and signing it at least once a week. Please also ask your child if he/she is coming to class with proper materials. Some students do not bringing their headphones to school or pencils and/or red pens.
This past week was the third week using the Dojo points system (3 points a day and working to keep them) for the students to work to earn an incentive after two weeks. If students are able to keep 80% or more of their provided points they will be able to participate in a choice time (extra recess, tech time, etc.). We also started sending home late work forms last week. If students collect any late work for the day, they will have to take a blue form home that needs to be signed and returned as a contract stating they have late work and need to get it done. This should be a heads up to the students that they are being held accountable for not getting their work done on time as this is still an issue in 6th grade. We do not want this to continue next year in middle school.
Coming up on March 9th will be our first STEAM day. Please be on the lookout for an email from Mr. Dembosky on what help we will need on that day. We will be looking for parent volunteers, and donations of STEAM items (cardboard, glue, wire, etc.). There is another email for you and your child to go over together to sign up for activities they want to participate in.
For information on upcoming events you can see our calendar page from our website too.
Please make an effort to join our Remind account and/or Class Dojo to keep up with information, behavior concerns, and other photos and stories from our classes. For remind to go www.remind.com/join/bradsinger and for class dojo go to www.classdojo.com/CT7L92M. Mrs. Topp and Mr. Singer will update through these two resources all year. Currently we are at 92% of the families connected with us on DoJo.
Throughout the year Mr. Singer will post pictures on our pictures page of the website too. Check out what is going on in the classroom. He also post what is going on on twitter through the Twitter handle @MrSingerClass.
BONUS: Each week we will put a challenge on here for any parent or student to try. All you have to do is give a response by Monday in the assignment notebook for us to see. If the answer is correct the student will receive $50 towards their checking account. Good Luck!
