News from the Math Department (By Alexis): We have been doing two-step equations and learning them on Edpuzzle. We did our last lesson yesterday and now we are doing our quiz.
News from the English/Language Arts Department (By Delaney): This week in ELA we have been working on our culture fair commercials. We have also been working on our Culture Fair.

Free Choice Area (By Xzavier): I don’t know why but our classroom is always the hottest classroom in the school. I am pretty sure that if you put out a pan and throw an egg in it will cook without an oven. Phew it is hot in here!!!
Teacher's Corner (By Mr. Singer): 4 days to go! Next week is our last week of school, and for the students the last week of school in elementary school, specifically here at Trailside. This next week will be filled with fun events like the culture fair (Krueger class on Monday and Singer class on Wednesday), Carnival, our PBIS reward movie day (Watching Zootopia!), and of course the auction.
Looking back at this week we had a very successful ALICE all-school drill. This was our first time doing it and many of the students were nervous, but after doing it they were much more comfortable with the process. I hope that if you have not had the conversation yet with your student on what we did, please make sure you do.
If you are interested in helping make donations for our auction next week. We have received a decent amount of items from donors thus far, but we are still in need of a few items for the upcoming auction.
If you have any of the following items that would be of interest to sixth graders we would be glad to take them:
- Rummage sale items
- Used books
- Baked goods
- Business donations
- Gift cards
- Soda/Candy
- Etc.
Please send your donations with your child to his/her homeroom teacher by Wednesday (unless you are sending baked goods, those can be send on the morning of the auction. Our auction will be held on the morning of June 8th.
Also, the last day (Thursday) we will be having a good bye parade at 11:20 for the 6th graders. Please try to be here before 11:20 so you can help celebrate the students moving on. You could stand in the hallway with all the students waving to the kids as they get to leave before the other kids.
If you are not signed up on either you can do so on the website. Contact me if you have any questions on doing this. I have also added pictures to our pictures page too.
Remember to check the assignment notebook board daily for homework updates.
BONUS: Each week I will put a challenge on here for any parent or student to try. All you have to do is give a response by Monday in the assignment notebook for me to see. If the answer is correct the student will receive $50 towards their checking account. Good Luck!
For $50 please put a note in the assignment notebook if you as a family discussed our ALICE drill from this week.
