News from the Social Studies Department (By Desirae): In Social Studies this week we learned a lot about War. Like In World War II the bombing of Pearl Harbor was what got the United States into the war. In both wars The United states did not want to get into it. I really like learning about wars. The part I don’t like learning about though is how many people fought, and didn't come back. We also learned about the Cold War, the Holocaust, and the Civil War.
News from the Math Department (By Quinn): This week in math, we learned about ordering positive and negative integers. We also did a bit of work on ordering positive and negative fractions, decimals, and percents.
News from the English/Language Arts Department (By Justyce): In ELA we read a story on the fear of public speaking. After we read the story we are writing one now about are made up person that has to overcome their fear we ending are rough draft.
News from the Music Department (By Caleb): We replaced words for a sing and got our concert spots, and practiced… a lot.
News from the Physical Education Department (By Camille): We are doing fitness testing. We just did pacer.
News from the Art Department (By Chloe): We were working on finishing our color wheel.
Free Choice Area (By Lori): My free choice to write about will be about orchestra. Orchestra is super fun and the teacher is silly but also teaches us nicely. We are working on our concert song called “Song of Peace” and it sounds beautiful. I can’t wait until the concert!
Teacher's Corner (By Mr. Singer): This week ended on a fun note. Mr. Dembosky held up his end of the bargain for the school earning almost $6,000 from the Walk to School Day and got duct tapped on the wall. I placed pictures of the event on the pictures page. Please check out the pictures on our pictures page. To go to my Flickr account directly too. The link is https://www.flickr.com/photos/bradsinger/.
Remember that next week we have conferences on Wednesday and Thursday. Everyone received a letter for which time slot they are signed up for OR you received a letter showing what time slots are still open if you did not sign up with the letter sent a few weeks ago. At conferences we will also have portfolios that the students put together. They have put together some work they are proud of, items that need improvement, goals for the year, and copies of their goals and MAP results. We will ask that you take those with you when you stop in. Remember that Mrs. Krueger and I will be in the library. Follow the signs and directions we will have posted for you when you come in the library.
While you are at the conference take some time to stop in at the book fair. There will be some good stuff there to purchase.
For upcoming important dates, including days off, Market Day pick up, etc. go to our Calendar.
At the end of the month we will be having conferences. Please make sure to help us teachers prepare for the conferences by completing the survey Mrs. Kreuger and I posted on our websites. Go to www.mrsinger.weebly.com at at the top of the homepage you will find the link. We also sent the survey out via the Remind101 text/app alert.
I wanted to inform everyone of one more communication tool that I implemented into our school community to use. Along with the Remind101 text system we now have a Twitter account for the class. Go to www.twitter.com/mrsingerclass to see news and updates from the school day, etc. I am posting pictures, reminders, educational resources, etc. You can also gain access by clicking on the Twitter tab in the top right corner of our website, www.mrsinger.weebly.com. PLEASE stay connected to what we are doing in our classroom.
