Earlier this week we sent home a note (that needs to be returned by Tuesday) about an upcoming project we are doing at school called the Home Is… For those who have older children that have gone through 6th grade you are aware of what is coming. For those who are new we hope you enjoy this activity. Please send us $2 for supplies, a 16 x 20 picture frames (NO POSTER FRAMES) and a picture copy of your house. We hope to have these in as soon as possible.
For Mr. Singer’s homeroom families, it took us two tries but the students did get a chance to send you their emails. I, Mr. Singer, hope you all received them and read them. We will be doing this monthly to ensure you are aware of their work so far and where they want to go. Feedback is much appreciated.
Below is the lesson that was conducted this week for ALICE. Please take time to discuss the lesson with your child(ren).
6th Grade - ALICE Lesson Ten: Putting it Together!
Lesson Goal: Understand the concepts of ALICE.
Lesson Recap: This lesson is a recap of all of the ALICE components. Students were asked to work together to create a presentation to teach others about the ALICE concept. Ask your student about this presentation!
Students will have off Wednesday through Friday. Teachers have a work day on the 22nd and then it is the extended Thanksgiving weekend. The first trimester ends on Friday, December 1st. Our grades and comments will be posted by the following week. We will inform you when they are completed to make sure you know when to look at Skyward. We will be checking Skyward then the following weeks to see who is and who is not checking in on Skyward. For information on upcoming events you can see our calendar page from our website too.
Please make an effort to join our Remind account and/or Class Dojo to keep up with information, behavior concerns, and other photos and stories from our classes. For remind to go www.remind.com/join/bradsinger and for class dojo go to www.classdojo.com/CT7L92M. Mrs. Topp and Mr. Singer will update through these two resources all year. Currently we are at 88% of the families connected with us on DoJo.
Throughout the year Mr. Singer will post pictures on our pictures page of the website too. Check out what is going on in the classroom. He also post what is going on on twitter through the Twitter handle @MrSingerClass.
Remember to check the assignment notebook board daily for homework and quick notes. We go through this with the students daily, but sometimes they do forget.
BONUS: Each week we will put a challenge on here for any parent or student to try. All you have to do is give a response by Monday in the assignment notebook for us to see. If the answer is correct the student will receive $50 towards their checking account. Good Luck!
This week’s bonus is Thanksgiving themed. Most people get up early and watch the Macy’s parade. What was the first year the parade was held?
Interesting fact about that date, no balloons were featured that year in the parade. They were not used in the parade until 1927 when Felix the Cat was the first balloon featured in the parade.
