Free Choice Area (By Christian): Let me tell you a story, once there was a sapling. The sapling, after many years, growed and growed. After a few years, the tree was fully grown. Three men showed up. They had saws. The Tree’s life flashed before it’s eyes, as it went black. But little did he know, that a tiny leaf fell off the tree. One day, it rained. Then, a strange man arrived. It was Chuck Norris. A child left a lego by the tree. When Norris stepped on it, it came to life and cried. The tears were absorbed by the leaf. Then after a few years, it made oranges. Chuck Norris was so powerful, the tree came to life when he plucked the oranges. Then, he made lemonade.
Teacher's Corner (By Mr. Singer): Today is the last day of November, No Shave November, and next week we begin our journey through December. We are that close of the end of 2018 already. Today is also the start of our second trimester. We have officially made it ⅓ of the way through the school year.
It’s almost auction time, and we are looking for donations for our biannual classroom auction. Students have been earning money for being positive and taking responsibility for their learning.
If you are interested in helping make the event a success, we are in need of your help. We have received a decent amount of items from donors thus far, but we are still in need of a few items for the upcoming auction.
If you have any of the following items that would be of interest to sixth graders we would be glad to take them:
- Rummage sale items
- Used books
- Baked goods
- Business donations
- Gift cards
- Soda/Candy
- Etc.
Please send your donations with your child to his/her homeroom teacher by Thursday, December 20th (unless you are sending baked goods, those can be send on the morning of the auction). Our auction will be held on the morning of December 21st.
This next week we begin my most enjoyable event of the year… PENNY WARS! To help raise money for families in need this holiday season the classes will be in a competition to try to collect the most pennies of all classes. Other students can ruin the progress of this goal by adding other money that is not pennies to your bin (quarters, dollars, etc.). This event is fun for everyone and goes to a good cause. Please check your change jars and couches for all the pennies you can to help our class. If you find a dollar or roll or quarters, you can send that in as well and we can drop those in to some other teachers’ jar (Mrs. Hall, Ms. Hayek, Mr. Beiser, etc.).
This week we continued our ALICE trainings. ALICE is our safety program and it stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate.
