Each student that is at school today is being given a chance to write their favorite holiday moment, or holiday message.

Seth:  My family and I wake up at 9:45 so I can hand out my gift when I get up. I see all the presents I made for my family and seeing their faces when they open them up.

Trevor: Everyone BE safe this year for the Holidays, and have a fun time opening gifts because life is like a box full of chocolates.  You never know what you’re going to get. Have an awesome Christmas!

KC:  Every year my mom and I go to the Dells for Christmas and we go see our family. I hope everybody has a safe and happy Christmas!

Hailey Rose: Every year have Christmas at my dad’s house, my mom’s house, my grandma’s house, and my dad’s- wife’s mom house. One tradition is finding the pickle. Another is everyone gets a present and then opens it at the same time. Everyone have a fun and happy Christmas.

Dalton: This time of year I like going up north to my grandpa’s house to celebrate Christmas. I also like snowboarding and snowmobiling.

John: This time of year everyone is in the holiday spirit, but now with the snow on the ground this year’s Christmas is even better than last years. One thing that my family always does is that we open 1 present Christmas Eve.

Josh: My favorite holiday moment is when I got my PS3.  I also like going up north and going snowmobiling.

Ryan: My favorite Christmas moment is when I got my first iPod. This time of year I like to spend time with my family, open presents, and go on a family trip.

Jair: I like to spend time with my family when it’s Christmas Eve because we get to spend more time together and my dad gets a day off and go outside play snow ball fights.

Dylan: I like to sled with family, open presents, and snow ball fights!!!!

Payne: My favorite Holiday memory is when my sister jumped on me at 6:00am.

Jaylynn: My favorite Christmas moment was when I woke my brother’s up and we jumped on their bed so we could open our Christmas presents. Then we all looked for the pickle to see who would get to open our presents and I was the one who found it! So I got lucky.

Hannah:  My favorite Christmas memory is when I can’t fall asleep the night before.  Then, getting up early the next morning  and waking my parents up, and then not being able to go back asleep after opening my presents before going to my grandma’s house.

Matt:  My favorite Christmas moment is when I opened up a Lego’s Star Wars Clock.

Leslie: My favorite holiday moment was when my cousin threw the Wii remote at the Christmas tree.

Emilee: My favorite Christmas memory is waking up really early, and not being able to fall back asleep because of how excited I am.

Payton:  My favorite Christmas memory is when I’m with my family at church on Christmas Eve.

Cole: My favorite Christmas moments are when I spent a lot of time with my family, when I go play out in the snow with my family, and we sit around the fire and open presents on Christmas day. :)

Jordan: My favorite Christmas is when I was drinking my milk and I put my cup down and I hit the cup and it spilled on me. So, yeah.  Lol!

Teacher's Corner (By Mr. Singer):
I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  Enjoy this time with family and friends and remember the good moments from this past year.  It has been a busy week here at Trailside and we are all excited about the well deserved break coming.

Thank you to all the families that have checked their grades of their students.  I only had to send home 5 letters this last week and three of them have went on since and checked.

We will be off starting after school until Wednesday, January 2nd, 2012.

That is all for this week.  Thanks for reading Our Class Newsletter.  Please email me with any questions or concerns you might have.

News from the Science Department (By KC):
In science today we had to take a test. Everybody had the choice to take it with or without a partner.

News from the Social Studies Department (By Hailey Rose):
This week in social studies we have been learning about North America and Canada. We learned that the United States is a melting pot. Canada is a mosaic. A melting pot; different cultures come together and make one culture. A mosaic is the same but they don’t make one culture, they keep their own cultures.

News from the Math Department (By Dalton):
In math this week we learned about triangles and quadrilaterals. We also have a test on Monday.

In reading we have been learning about the different genres.

News from the Writer's Workshop Department (By Josh):
We are doing our Home Is… project.

Teacher's Corner (By Mr. Singer):
One week of school left for the year…2012.  I crack myself up.  We have been busy this week.  We are wrapping up our big project for the month in Language Arts, had our concerts (AWESOME JOB KIDS!), and stayed awake all week.  :0

A big thank you to the parents who came in over the last couple weeks to help get our project on track, you really helped more than you can imagine.

Just a reminder to please check your grades if you have not since 12-1-12.  I will be sending a note home to parents that did not check grades yet on Monday.

There are a couple of computer programs designed to teach and build reading and math skills for early elementary kids. One is called “Funnix Math” and the other is “Funnix Reading”. The programs are NOT flashy, but they are very carefully constructed to systematically build those early skills. The programs are designed for an adult to use with the child.

Every now and again, the programs are offered for free. The program developer offers them as kind of a “gift” to parents and teachers. Funnix Math is available as a free download until tomorrow. Then Funnix Reading will be available free starting on Sunday.  www.funnix.com

Our last school day before Christmas break is Friday, December 21st.  We will be off the entire next week and start up again January 2nd.

That is all for this week.  Thanks for reading Our Class Newsletter.  Please email me with any questions or concerns you might have.
