Teacher's Corner (By Mr. Singer): We had another busy week! We started the week off by doing the culture survey on Monday, and Thursday we had a visit from Mrs. Markle from Fox River to begin preparing the students for next year. In April we will get the chace to go to Fox River for a whole day to have the 6th graders shaddow the 7th graders in their normal day.
Next week we will be having conferences and our schedule from 2-8 is packed! Thanks to all the families for responding and setting up their time. We do have time between 2:30-3:30 where we are able to meet with anyone who wants to stop in and talk about the status of their child. All other times are taken.
Becasue of conferecnes this also means next Thursday is a half day (ends at 11:30) and Friday is a no school day for the students. Enjoy the extra time off.
Next week we will be starting the Iditarod unit where the students will follow the Last Great Race in Alaska, learn about the great state, and get to know the history of the race. One of our big projects is the grid map of the trail the students work on. If you have any extra colored pencils you can spare to class that would help us our immensley. We will need them by Wednesday. If you want to do some of your own research go to the Iditarod website.
For upcoming important dates, including days off, PTO events, etc. go to our Calendar. This coming week is very busy with PTO events.
Make sure you are staying connected with our Remind alert system and following the class on Twitter. Find both feeds shown on our website, www.mrsinger.weebly.com. If you are not signed up on either you can do so on the website. Contact me if you have any questions on doing this. I have also added pictures to our pictures page too.
Remember to check the assignment notebook board daily for homework updates.
BONUS: Since the Iditarod is approaching at the start of March it is time to give you some weekly trivia about the “Last Great Race.” There is currently a movie out in select theaters about a current musher and his life. Who is the musher and what is the name of the movie? An answer by Monday by email or in the assignment notebook, or in a note form, will earn you or your student $50! Good Luck!!
