Teacher's Corner (By Mr. Singer): And the winner is… Dallas Seavey. Our Iditarod winner crossed the 1,000 mile race in record setting pace at around 8 days, 12 hours. We finished our Idita-read competition in the classes today and our winnings were distributed today too. If the team picked the lead musher they received a bonus of $200, if the winner was the backup they got $100. 1st place got $500, 2nd received $400, 3rd got $300, 4th got $200, 5th received $100, and 6th place got the red lantern honor and $50. Finally, if a student scored points on all 10 days they received a $50 bonus. Almost all the racers have finished the real Iditarod race. For the complete results, go to www.iditarod.com.
Grades are live TODAY for 2nd trimester. Please make sure to go on to Skyward in the next week and see how your student did. I will be checking which families have accessed their accounts in one week and sending a letter to those homes who have not checked by then.
Reminder from last week… Now that we are in the third trimester we are going to be much more diligent about missing or late work. Each Friday we will send home sheets in each subject for any missing work we have for the kids. These forms MUST be returned signed on Monday with the work in hand if possible. Any work that is not submitted a week after the due date will get a grade and be kept as a 0. This has been the expectation all year, but we have been lenient all year. However, with only 12 weeks left we need to get the students prepared for next year. Please make sure to help us out by checking their grades on Skyward, check the homework on our websites, and make sure if they bring a missing sheet home on Friday that you sign the form and make sure they complete the work within the week given.
For upcoming important dates, including days off, PTO events, etc. go to our Calendar. This coming week is very busy with PTO events. Tonight is movie night at Trailside.
Make sure you are staying connected with our Remind alert system and following the class on Twitter. Find both feeds shown on our website, www.mrsinger.weebly.com. If you are not signed up on either you can do so on the website. Contact me if you have any questions on doing this. I have also added pictures to our pictures page too.
Remember to check the assignment notebook board daily for homework updates.
BONUS: Your last Iditarod trivia. What year was the closest finish in Iditarod History? Who were the two mushers racing for first? Who won the race? Three questions make a total of $150 for this one. Next week I will go back to random totally fun trivia.
