News from the Social Studies Department (By Macy): In Social Studies we are learning about the Provinces and Territories of Canada. We just started this unit and I’m very excited!
News from the Math Department (By Haley): We are learning to use similar figures and proportions. We are also learning different ways to write proportions.
News from the English/Language Arts Department (By Maddy): We just got done correcting all of our assignments. Like for example, we corrected our comprehension packets, our vocab packets, and earlier in the week, we corrected our big thick language arts test. I’ve heard that it was VERY boring, but I wasn't here so I don’t know if it really was.
News from the Music Department (By Thalia): Absent at time of publishing.
News from the Physical Education Department (By Gabe): This week we had fitness testing. We ran PACER, did curl ups, and pushups.
News from the Art Department (By Sophia): Instead of writing about art class, I am going to write about the art we did as a class. This project is called the Iditarod. We created a map of the Iditarod routes. It took us a little bit to color the entire map. But the overall product was phenomenal!
Free Choice Area (By Brenna): My free choice idea is talking about the Iditarod. We are finishing up our Iditarod track map. We got put on to teams, and picked 2 mushers (one lead and one back up). We will also be reading for the Iditaread and try to keep up with our mushers miles. 1 page= 3 miles students! - Teacher Bren
Teacher's Corner (By Mr. Singer): Today marks the end of the second trimester. On Monday we will beginning the start of the end for 6th grade. Only one more trimester left before moving on to Fox River and beyond. All grades for this trimester will end today. A fresh start will await the 6th graders on Monday. This upcoming trimester will also be a big test for the 6th graders as we complete our end-of-the-year testing. This trimester we will begin with the end of 2nd trimester math test, complete Badger Exam at the end of March/beginning of April, and our final MAPs testing near the end of April. I can’t wait to see how much the students have grown this year.
