News from the Social Studies Department (By Derek): We are doing presentations on our human world. We are talking about things like population distribution, density, and growth, why people migrate, urbanization, different kinds of economies, levels of economic development, world trade patterns, types of states, types of government, and international organizations.
News from the Math Department (By Riley): This week in math we learned rules of divisibility, the factors of a number, and prime and composite numbers. This week we also finished our previous unit.

Free Choice Area (By Sydney): In Class, Mr. Singer and Mrs. Topp are really positive to all students.
Teacher's Corner (By Mr. Singer and Mrs. Topp): Only one week to go until we are done this year. Next week will be filled with new and exciting information. On Monday 1st trimester grades went live. Please make sure to go on Skyward and check your student’s progress. If you would like a hard copy of the report card let one of us know so we can get the office to print them. We will be checking Skyward next week to see who is and who is not checking in on Skyward.

Monday will be our Wonder trip to the movies. When we come back from the movie the students will be moving for three areas in the school to be doing activities based on kindness.
Wednesday will be our opportunity to have a holiday celebration. The students have been working with Mrs. Topp to prepare. We will be doing a comparison with the reading and the movie, The Polar Express. Students will also be able to bring snacks for the movie in the afternoon. Please make sure to make all snacks nut free.
Thursday will be our pizza lunch with the students who want to order pizza from Domino’s. The form went home Monday and needs to be back by Tuesday. It is $2 for two slices of either cheese, pepperoni, or sausage.
Friday is a half day and we will be doing our bi-annual auction with the students with the money they earned this year. Students have been earning money for being positive and taking responsibility for their learning.
If you have any of the following items that would be of interest to sixth graders we would be glad to take them:
- Rummage sale items
- Used books
- Baked goods
- Business donations
- Gift cards
- Soda/Candy
- Etc.
Please send your donations with your child to his/her homeroom teacher by Thursday.
For students in Mr. Singer’s class, this week you should have received an email update from your child. This would be the second email you would have received this year from them. Please review them with your child.

BONUS: Each week we will put a challenge on here for any parent or student to try. All you have to do is give a response by Monday in the assignment notebook for us to see. If the answer is correct the student will receive $50 towards their checking account. Good Luck!
