Teacher's Corner (By Mr. Singer): Happy New Year! We did not have a newsletter last week so this is the first time I am reaching out to everyone this year. I hope everyone had a great break and was able to spend precious time with families. I also wanted to thank all the families that gave generous gifts to us teachers. It is so nice to see the love and thought that you had for Mrs. Wanasek and I. It makes us really appreciate working in this community and at this school.
Again, let me extend a big thank you to all of the families who donated to the 6th grade auction. The kids had a good time and some will be coming home with some nice gifts. I also want to thank the PTO for their help as well. The PTO gives us a budget each year for the auctions, and we were able to get quite a bit from their generous donation.
This week the students began having their ACP, Academic and Career Planning, conferences with their parents and Mrs. Koby. I hope you have all of you that have had the conference so far have enjoyed the opportunity to see what your child is thinking when it comes to their future planning.

Since it is the start of a new year, I wanted to make the bonus this week related to the start of the new year, 2019. In Chinese culture each year is represented by one of twelve animals (Zodiac pattern). This year, 2019, is considered the Year of the Pig. What does the pig represent, or what is the fortune that comes with the year of the Pig?
