News from the Social Studies Department (By Frankie): we are learning about the iditarod and we are doing the iditaread. We are also United States and Canada project where we have to read and fill out a sheet about resources and development.
News from the Math Department (By Brea): This week we have been learning about decimals. On Wednesday we learned how to divide decimals by decimals.
News from the English/Language Arts Department (By Gavin):In ELA we are doing a wordly wise review and wordly wise A-C. And we are learning about cause and effect.
News from the Music Department (By Avery N ): In music we were doing guitars but, 3-7-18 was our last day. Our next unit is percussion but we don't only use drums we get to use other things too.
News from the Physical Education Department (By Natalie ): In gym we are doing rollerblading. What we do is games like tag and captain ship. Nothing really exciting because the roller blades hurt your feet.
News from the Art Department (By Brianna E ): In Art this week we did prinitng.So we all had to pick a theme for a logo.After we picked the theme we started cutting out of rubber. When we are done cutting we start printing with ink.
Free Choice Area (By Sydney): On Friday, We get to experience our school’s first Steam day! We got to pick the stations we wanted to do for the day and on friday we get our name tag that tells us where we go and when. We also get to explore the wonderful world of science(and slime making).
Teacher's Corner (By Mr. Singer and Mrs. Topp): Well, here we are in the third trimester of the school year, I can’t believe it. Today, Friday, we are having our first ever STEAM day at Trailside. Please talk with your child about the event and share with me what they say, I would like to know what they thought, what we could improve next year, etc.
Grades for the second trimester will be posted on Monday, March 12th. Please check the grades on Monday, or sometime next week and contact us if you have any questions.
Tuesday, March 13th will be our last night of APTT this year. We hope to have another good turnout! The event will start at 6:00 pm and we will be sharing how the students did with their math goal to this point in the year, and we will be providing a game we would like you to play to help the students prepare for 7th grade math.
The sixth graders started following the Iditarod race this week. Students are assigned to teams and will be reading to match their musher’s miles. Please look for the Idita-READ form; students need parent initials every day through next week. We will be celebrating the end of the race next Friday with Iron Will and making and eating GORP. We will be asking the students to bring items in for making GORP next week. We will be taking into account food allergies with the making of our GORP.
Dates to remember:
March 13th is our final APTT meeting from 6:00-7:30. The parent letter went home today. Please RSVP for this informational meeting.
March 23rd is Wisconsin Day and popcorn day, more to come.
March 29th is our early release day for the start of spring break.
March 30 no school for spring break, Good Friday.

BONUS: Each week we will put a challenge on here for any parent or student to try. All you have to do is give a response by Monday in the assignment notebook for us to see. If the answer is correct the student will receive $50 towards their checking account. Good Luck!
