News from the Social Studies Department (By Kaylee): In social studies we are reading in our new orange books about the Mayans and other people. We are also watching some vidoes about the Mayans and the other people.
News from the Math Department (By Marissa): In math we are learning about line plots, bar graphs, and other interesting graphs. We are learning what a misleading graph is, which was also very easy and interesting. Then we have to answer what a misleading graph is. Now we have a test coming up.
News from the Reader’s Workshop Department (By Fallon): In reading we just finished our reading packets. In the packets we would have to read the story or section and then answer 3 almost 4 pages of questions. The questions are easy to do if you read carefully. I usually read well, but I still go back and check my answers after I am finished. And if the story is good enough I will keep it and test myself over and over. We have had stories on the Bermuda Triangle, and SHC, or Spontanious Human Cumbustion. There are also packets on Tar People, and other intresting topics. I have learned a lot from these packets and before school is over I will ask for more. They are very interesting and fun even if you don’t like to read or answer questions. If you are intrested you can always ask your teacher for sites or packets like these, and I hope you start reading them! If you don’t have a teacher then you can look it up online, but if you do have a teacher ask them for a packet ASAP! And again, they are great reads!
News from the Music Department (By Analisa): We are all going around with an insturment to hear the different beats.
News from the Physical Education Department (By Logan): In gym we are having a lot of things to do with team work.
News from the Art Department (By Quentin): We are doing a scale project. We start small and work bigger. In a few weeks we are glazing our clay project.
Free Choice Area (By Brendan): In Band class, we are getting ready for the spring concert. We are playing Storm Surge, Scirocco, and a song called Anasazi. We got some candy from Mrs. Nelson for Easter, she’s so nice!
Teacher's Corner (By Mr. Singer): Now that spring break is over we are in the home stretch. A few important events are coming up too. On May 16th we will be having our shadow day. This is where we go to Fox River and the kids shadow seventh graders for the whole day to know what it is like to spend a day in middle school. On May 30th we will be having our annual carnival for the students. The students have had the chance to earn tickets for the carnival all year. The kids could have earned tickets by doing all required work and handing in thier reading calendars on time, doing reading counts tests, and completing Xtramath tests.
For upcoming important dates, including days off, Market Day pick up, etc. go to our Calendar. There is an opportunity for you to support Trailside and participate in the skate night next Thursday at Traxside. See the flyer coming home today.
I wanted to inform everyone of one more communication tool that I implemented into our school community to use. Along with the Remind101 text system we now have a Twitter account for the class. Go to www.twitter.com/mrsingerclass to see news and updates from the school day, etc. I am posting pictures, reminders, educational resources, etc. You can also gain access by clicking on the Twitter tab in the top right corner of our website, www.mrsinger.weebly.com. PLEASE stay connected to what we are doing in our classroom.
If you want to know more about what is going on in the Trailside PO, please see their website too. You can find information about items like the Trailside gear sales, and more! The final PTO meeting of the year is coming up in two weeks. Try to make it.
Remember to check the assignment notebook board daily for homework updates.
