Teacher's Corner (By Mr. Singer):
We made it! Our first FULL week of 6th grade. This week has been busy. We started our normal schedule, began MAPs testing for the beginning of the year, began our AIMSweb testing, and even had our yearbook pictures (no broken cameras either!). The students have been working hard so far. They have also been on their best behavior this week too.
Next week we will continue our MAPs testing with reading as the focus. We will also be having our first Spanish class on Monday. We will have Spanish every three weeks. If your child is in Chorus or Band, make sure you don’t miss the parent meetings at FR. See the schedule for times.
On Thursday I sent home a reading calendar and a book order with the students. The book orders are to be sent home by next Friday. I normally do these at the beginning of the month, but I did not get the forms organized until Wednesday this week. Reading calendars are part of their reading grade. Each month students are expected to complete the required minutes, or more, and hand in their calendar with a parent’s signature. Please post them somewhere in the house that can be accessed by everyone.
Please check the calendar frequently for any important dates. I did post new events on the calendar after the PTO meeting last night. Remember to check the assignment notebook board too.
