In reading, we are working on PhotoStory. We have to make a PhotoStory to explain the elements ( flashback, first person point of view. etc.) and we also have to talk about why our book used those elements.
News from the Writer's Workshop Department (By Eva):
In Writer’s Workshop we have been doing prompt writing pieces. Today’s prompt was to work on descriptive writing. The prompt was a fantasy piece: You are going to a fantasy land. The pieces were very funny and very fantasy-like.

In music we learned the happy new year song Auld Lang Syne on Wednesday in music. We learned the chords for it also. A chord is a multiple playing of notes. Well we will see you next week from the music department.

This week in PHY. ED we have been working on our forearm pass and set in Volleyball. We played a few games of speedball and Molly gave our teams names. Team Bubbles was the winner. We are going to play 6 on 6 volleyball next week.

This week in Art, we were working on a project. It was pretty short, and I can’t remember the name of it. It was really cool! When we finish, we would get to do free art.

Teacher's Corner (By Mr. Singer):
LET IT SNOW! LET IT SNOW! LET IT SNOW! I am so excited that the snow is finally here. Hopefully we get some cold weather so ice fishing can begin. We also have a big sports weekend here in Wisconsin. Go Packers!
This week we did our first MAPs winter test. We did our math test. We will be doing our Reading MAPs test on the 24th. After we complete our test, I will be sending home the results so you can see how they did. This test will show us if the students are on path to make their goals for the end of the year.
We will be having our classroom auction on January 20th, early relase day (at 11:30 they will be dismissed). If you have anything at home you could donate, or want to purchase for the auction, we would be more than welcome to accept anything. People have donated old movies, video games, gift cards, candy or food, etc. Please let me know.
Please remember to log onto Skyward to see your child’s grades. If you have not checked between December 1st to next week Monday the 23rd, you will have to come in for the next parent-teacher conference. The progress reports will be avliable on January 20th, so I will be checking again after that date. Thank you very much for keeping on top of your child’s grades.
This week the students finished their reading projects that we have worked on with the last book. They had to create a video on the book they read and share what elements were used in the book. The videos will be located on our website soon. They will be located on the Pictures page of the website.
