Teacher's Corner (By Mr. Singer):
Wednesday is National Walk to School Day. You might have seen the handouts from the PTO to donate. If you have any donations or pledges, you can send them with your student on Wednesday and I will submit them to the PTO. Also, read the plan for the walk and have your student participate. Thank you in advance for your donations.
I sent home the MAPs results from the fall for you all to check out. You will notice that your student maybe had a much lower score this fall than spring. I do think there might be some summer loss, but the norms that the test is based off were changed over the summer so the test results are different. MAPs decided to match the test to the Common Core standards. This is a very good decision. I will also save some time at all conferences later in October to discuss any questions on the test you might have. I have also added some information on what MAPs are on the FAQ section of our class website.
October 5th will be our first early release day as well. For all major dates of interest please go to the website and check out the calendar page.
I have posted pictures from our visit on the pictures page from our work in Science this week. Check them out. I will continue to add pictures of the class doing stuff throughout the year. The goal is to help you follow along as we learn this year.
If you are interested in any other information, please peruse the website and enjoy. Our class rules, pictures from the year, and much more can be found. If you ever have any questions, or comments, please email me!
Thank You,
Mr. Singer
