Teacher's Corner (By Mr. Singer): Welcome to Friday. It looks like the weather is changing just in time for the holiday season to begin. Since we will have a short week next week we will not have a newsletter, so let me wish you all a happy Thanksgiving next week. Enjoy spending time with your family and friends. For the hunters out there, good luck with your efforts.
Remember that the end of November is the end of the 1st trimester. Grades will close on the 30th. Make sure to check your student(s) progress at least once a week on Skyward to ensure you know if they are handing in their work or not. Mrs. Kreuger and I post grades as soon as we can. We do this to make sure you are able to get the most accurate results of your child as we can.
This week Mrs. Krueger and I received a few email that regarded normal procedural items (correcting homework, assignment notebook requirements, etc.). I figured now that we are ⅓ of the way through this year I would remind you that at open house we put together a welcome letter that we sent home that covers a lot of the questions that people have had. Click here for a copy of the letter to review. We will be making sure we stick to the mising work and corrected work policy in the start of the second trimester. Students have up to one week after the due date to get work in, otherwise it WILL BE A 0%. Students also have only up to a week to correct assignments after the work has been passed back. The students need to begin to learn how to be more responsible and prepare for next year’s expecations at middle school.
The following is our ALICE training update from the week. Below is a list of what we did for the training. Click on the links if you want to see the video and presentation from this week. Each week I will put this information in the newsletter.
5-6 Grade - ALICE Lesson Ten: Putting it Together!
Lesson Goal: Understand the concepts of ALICE.
Lesson Recap: This lesson is a recap of all of the ALICE components. Students were asked to work together to create a presentation to teach others about the ALICE concept. Ask your student about this presentation! We will be working on them more next week too.
You can reinforce the concepts of ALICE at home by asking your student to describe each of the ALICE components to you. Then, talk about using ALICE in any public place like the mall, church, movie theater, fare, hospital, ….. Anywhere this knowledge may come in handy.

Remember to check the assignment notebook board daily for homework updates.
BONUS: Each week I will put a challenge on here for any parent or student to try. All you have to do is give a response by Monday in the assignment notebook for me to see. If the answer is correct the student will receive $50 towards their checking account. Good Luck!
Riddle like question today, Most people are born with 20 of these, but in 1921 a child in London was born 29 of these, what are they? Good Luck. I will check on Monday.
