Free Choice Area (By Will): On Wednesday we worked on Hour of Code after we watched some videos. The videos were inspiration videos for Hour of Code.
Teacher's Corner (By Mr. Singer): This week we participated in Hour of Code at code.org. The students were able to participate in developing a Star Wars game, create a Minecraft level, or create an image with the help of Elsa and Anna from Frozen. During the hour of code students were able to practice building code using block code, writing code language with the block assistance, or use Javascript to complete their selected platform. As it was explained to the students, they do not need to stop here. They can go to code.org at anytime to see what else they can complete at home. I also told them to SUBMIT any completed work to be able to SHARE with their peers or anyone who goes to our Resource Page on our website. If you would like to see some short videos about code, click here.
I also wanted to say thanks to all of you who have checked grades since the end of the trimester. Only 7 families have not checked yet. That means 70% have gone on and saw what your child had for grades in the first trimester.
Again, thank you so much. The others will be getting a letter next week reminding them to go on and review the grades.
The following is from an email I sent out earlier this week too: It’s auction time! 6th grade students have been earning money for being positive and taking responsibility for their learning. We are looking for any donation you might be able to supply to us, such as: Rummage sale items Used books Business donations Baked goods.
If you have any items to donate please bring them starting Friday, December 18th. Any baked good should be brought the day of the auction.
The auction will be held on Tuesday, December 22nd!
For upcoming important dates, including days off, PTO events, etc. go to our Calendar.
Make sure you are staying connected with our Remind alert system and following the class on Twitter. Find both feeds shown on our website, www.mrsinger.weebly.com. If you are not signed up on either you can do so on the website. Contact me if you have any questions on doing this. I have also added pictures to our pictures page too.
Remember to check the assignment notebook board daily for homework updates.
BONUS: On Monday include a note for a reward in the assignment notebook, or email me. Two part question today. 1) who was the only president to date to hold a doctorate, and 2) where did he work prior to becoming the president of the United States in 1913? Good luck, there is $50 of school money on the line and the auction in only 7 school days away! Actually, if you get both parts it can be worth $100!
