This week sign up for conferences for later this month started. Like last year we are asking parents to sign up through Skyward. Everyone will be signing up under Mr. Singer’s class since both teachers will be doing conferences with all of you together. Since we both share your kids about 50/50 it is nice to meet with both of us at the same time. Here are the directions for singing up on Skyward. 2018 Parent Teacher Conference Scheduling for Parents.pdf
If the times and/or dates are going to be hard for you to meet with us, please contact us to schedule a different time (before or after school prior to conference date, or after if needed). We will also be free on October 25 to meet between 11:30-1:30 as well.
If you missed the APTT night and want to pick up the materials before conferences, please contact myself or Mrs. Wanasek to do so.
This week we started doing our ALICE trainings. ALICE is our safety program and it stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate. Each week we will work with our students to make sure they are safe. Below is the lesson that was conducted this week for ALICE. Please take time to discuss the lesson with your children.
6th Grade - ALICE Lesson Four: Evacuate/Rally Point
Lesson Goal: Know where the school’s rally points are located, and understand the most direct path to those rally points.
Lesson Recap: The class took a walking field trip/tour to the school’s rally points, noting the different ways to get to the rally points depending on the exit used.
You can help reinforce what was taught in class by asking your child where the rally points are and then asking your student what would be the easiest way to get to the rally points from the classroom, gym, cafeteria, art room, library, playground, etc…. . You may also want to talk about a rally point for other frequently visited public places like a church, public library, local restaurant…
Note: The rally point is not where students will be reunified with their parents. In the event of an actual emergency, the reunification site will be announced through the school messaging system, social media, and the district web page.
