Teacher's Corner (By Mr. Singer and Mrs. Topp): Happy Friday! It seems unbelievable that we’re in the month of December, and the first trimester is done. The time is flying! In looking back at the beginning of the year to today, Mr. Singer and I see great growth and many successes in our students. We are proud of the hard work and effort our students are putting forth!
With the end of the trimester, students who have any missing assignments will need to complete the work over the weekend. Report cards will be generated and available with our comments on December 11th by 2:00 pm. We will be checking Skyward the following week to see who is and who is not checking in on Skyward. For information on upcoming events you can see our calendar page from our website too.
Next week in Mr. Singer’s class the students will be participating in Hour of Code. The students will be joining students across the world who will be spending the week developing coding for games, Google Doodles, etc. to promote and participate in computer science. This will be exciting to see with the students since they have been coding their automation projects for a couple weeks now.
Thank you for sending in the $2.00 and parent note for our up-coming Home is...project. Just a reminder the the 16 x 20 picture frames (NO POSTER FRAMES) isn’t due until December 15th, but the picture/copy of your house is due by early next week.
Below is the lesson that was conducted the week before Thanksgiving and continued this week for ALICE. Please take time to discuss the lesson with your child(ren).
6th Grade - ALICE Lesson Ten: Putting it Together!
Lesson Goal: Understand the concepts of ALICE.
Lesson Recap: This lesson is a recap of all of the ALICE components. Students were asked to work together to create a presentation to teach others about the ALICE concept. Ask your student about this presentation!
Please make an effort to join our Remind account and/or Class Dojo to keep up with information, behavior concerns, and other photos and stories from our classes. For remind to go www.remind.com/join/bradsinger and for class dojo go to www.classdojo.com/CT7L92M. Mrs. Topp and Mr. Singer will update through these two resources all year. Currently we are at 88% of the families connected with us on DoJo.
Throughout the year Mr. Singer will post pictures on our pictures page of the website too. Check out what is going on in the classroom. He also post what is going on on twitter through the Twitter handle @MrSingerClass.
Now that we are in the second trimester, students will only need to get one parent signature a WEEK in the assignment notebook (assignment notebook board). Students have done such a great job filling out their assignment notebooks and having it signed that we feel the students have developed the habit/routine which will continue. Students will continue filling out the assignment book to show you what was done in school and what needs to be completed for homework, but one parent signature a week is now required.
BONUS: Each week we will put a challenge on here for any parent or student to try. All you have to do is give a response by Monday in the assignment notebook for us to see. If the answer is correct the student will receive $50 towards their checking account. Good Luck!
This week’s bonus is poetry themed. Use of words (such as hiss or murmur) that imitate the sounds associated with the objects or actions they refer to is called ______________?
Have a wonderful weekend!
